What I'm Reading

I started and finished SOULLESS by Crystal Collier! It wasn't as scary as the first book because I've already been introduced to the villains in the first book. The revelations in this story shocked me. I didn't see it coming at all. I can't wait to see how it all wraps up in the third and last book.

Finally, DAMSEL DISTRESSED by Kelsey Macke was published yesterday! I got a chance to read it and even finish it. It was a bit hard to read in the beginning. It was an easy read but the topic itself left me anxious. It left me in tears. The music that goes with it helps make the story even that much more powerful. Reading this story I felt like I was in Imogen's footsteps, learning along side her. I love her friends. I appreciate that the author wrote about the topic of anxiety and depression. I felt like I learned more about it. Thank you for an inspiring story!

Instead of following the prompt today, here is a poem inspired by yesterday's read.

We're all mad
Heavy with emotion
Not just about a summer love
A thousand times
A thousand years
I deal
With heavy emotions

God knows
I want you to put your arms around me
say no goodbye to me
through the dark
I need a pocketful of sunshine

You are all calling for me
I'm calling you
I'm in misery
as I'm on one fine wire
trying to remember
I'm blessed

My demons
I feel something about
being without me
I’m sinking
a thousand years

Calling you
Through the dark

Between the raindrops
All of me
Don't wake me up

You tell me
To try not to cry, little one
I’m bleeding out
Misery

I want you to try
To let me go

I need my strength

How to save a life
We both know
Human and brave

Unseen by me
Be free now
Fix you, fix me
Look into my eyes
Breaking at the cracks
Always speak too late
Breathe easy.

My Writer's Voice Entry

My Query: DECIDING HIJAB is a 15,100 worded multicultural, girly YA. 15 year old Yasmeen recently started wearing the headscarf. Along with covering up comes problems. She faces an atheist teacher giving mis-information and getting unwanted attention from a boy. Some good comes out of this, Yasmeen meets a faithful Christian girl named Jenna and she has a load of questions for her interest in their religion, Islam. Hello readers, What I'm Reading : I got and read two e-Arcs. 1. Behind the Stars by Leigh T Moore. I gave it 5 stars. The synopsis was left vague which left the story to be unexpected. 2. The Attic of Sand and Secrets by Medeia Sharif. I gave it 4 stars. I love the mystery. I love the diversity. Also, I finally... for the first time, got to read THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas!! I gave it 5 stars. You will find more in depth reviews on goodreads . What I'm Writing : I'm in that two week slump for NaNoWriMo. This weekend I was at 17k. It's been three days and I'm at 18k. Hopefully better days are coming. Lists are very helpfully. I recently learned one way to revise your novel is to write one line about each page you have. What's up Wed: Blog Tour Day 3

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments. What I'm Writing : I'm keeping on with NaNoWriMo at 28k! In between I'm switching back and forth between two stories: Reading Deciding Hijab after a long break. I forgot about her short conversation about a school dance club. I didn't even put in a scene of her joining after the conversation. More revisions to come.
