What's Up Wed & Day 15

Hello readers,

What I'm Reading

I started and finished SOULLESS by Crystal Collier! It wasn't as scary as the first book because I've already been introduced to the villains in the first book. The revelations in this story shocked me. I didn't see it coming at all. I can't wait to see how it all wraps up in the third and last book.

Finally, DAMSEL DISTRESSED by Kelsey Macke was published yesterday! I got a chance to read it and even finish it. It was a bit hard to read in the beginning. It was an easy read but the topic itself left me anxious. It left me in tears. The music that goes with it helps make the story even that much more powerful. Reading this story I felt like I was in Imogen's footsteps, learning along side her. I love her friends. I appreciate that the author wrote about the topic of anxiety and depression. I felt like I learned more about it. Thank you for an inspiring story!

What I'm Writing > OctPoWriMo

Instead of following the prompt today, here is a poem inspired by yesterday's read.
We're all mad
Heavy with emotion
Not just about a summer love
A thousand times
A thousand years
I deal
With heavy emotions

God knows
I want you to put your arms around me
say no goodbye to me
through the dark
I need a pocketful of sunshine

You are all calling for me
I'm calling you
I'm in misery
as I'm on one fine wire
trying to remember
I'm blessed

My demons
I feel something about
being without me
I’m sinking
a thousand years

Calling you
Through the dark

Between the raindrops
All of me
Don't wake me up

You tell me
To try not to cry, little one
I’m bleeding out
Misery

I want you to try
To let me go

I need my strength

How to save a life
We both know
Human and brave

Unseen by me
Be free now
Fix you, fix me
Look into my eyes
Breaking at the cracks
Always speak too late
Breathe easy.

Love, Fida

Gorgeous poem! And hey, technically you're following the prompt because you showed us what you wrote rather than just telling us about it! Have a great week! :)

Crystal's book sounds so amazing. I'll have to read the first one first, though. I'm working on three partials for my agent (don't ask!) and when I'm finished, I plan to do some "for fun" reading. A break from reading kids' books. I can't wait!!!

i loved your poem. My TBR list keeps growing. Doing What's Up Wednesday this year has exposed me to more books than ever before. And I love it.

A wonderful poem!
Oh, it's been so long since I've had the concentration to sit down and read a book. My life is very chaotic at this juncture.

Hello Poetteers,  It is another day of LoveAThon challenges. I had too much fun with this. I hope you enjoyed this! You can find more poetry hacks here . My poetry book, Her Treasures, is available here .  Thank you, Fida

Hearing About IWSG

Hello readers, I was reading Ali's post about this support group that talks about writerly doubts. I have doubts and I shall share them because that's the point of a support group. I used to be insecure about traditional publishing, that no one with accept my writing. Then I heard of self publishing. Yet that added to my insecurities. I have no money or talent to showcase my writing. After IndieReCon I felt a better, yet once the high went away, I find it's only a little bit better. I need a team, I need help. I call for help, but I don't get replies. That's another insecurity, I don't think I have any fans. My blog is becoming dead and I keep thinking of deactivating my twitter. The only reason I stay is for the knowledge. And the worse insecurity, dare I say it. All the above add to me... wanting to quit writing. I have little motivation and that motivation is to show my Muslim community you don't have to be a doctor or lawyer or teacher to be...

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments.
