Happy December! I'm still reading BIG MAGIC by Elizabeth Gilbert. I finished NaNo with 52k! I love my story. I hope to continue onto this month with my daily writing habit. I hope to have a new mini project this month along with a couple of events to be a part of. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures . If you need gift ideas, poetry will make a great gift!

Monday Blessings: Winning

Hello Poetteers, It's another short post. I won NaNo yesterday!! I'm happy that I still love my story. I'm blessed with so much. I love the bit of sunshine in these beginning cold months. Stay inspired, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Book Review: Carry On

Hello readers, I recently finished CARRY ON by Rainbow Rowell. It's a big book but I got through it. The beginning was a bit slow but in the end I loved it and gave it 5 stars. It reminds me of Harry Potter with the magic and boarding school. It was similar yet so different. The romance was still suspenseful even though you know a bit from the bits in Fangirl (if I remember correctly). It was heartfelt and funny. It has the classical Rainbow Rowell ending. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Monday Blessings - Generosity

Hello Poetteers, It's a short post today. Even though I don't have much time I'm blessed to have time. I'm blessed with health. I'm loving the ability to feel the generosity of the people around me. I'm currently at 25k for NaNo. I'm blessed with the chance to write, to write what I love and love what I write. Stay inspired, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Poetry - Sestina Form

Hi everyone, One goal I set as a New Years resolution was to explore new poetry styles. I was reading Lynn Crawford 's Fancy earlier. It's a Sestina-Story. Without looking at the notes I was able to find three of the six words. I was talking to my mom and she ended up reading the story too. She didn't want me to give her the words until after she read it. She got one of the six words right. This format is interesting. It has gotten me excited and re-inspired my love for writing poetry. I did a bit more research on Sestina and it continues to put me in awe. Some people have different ways of interpreting it. Check out this poem . The author picks six words and sticks to only those six words, just rearranging them yet the different punctuation adds to the poem. I attempted to write a piece: The fall of leaves blanket the ground the cats play in it as it swirls into the flowers I stay indoors with my coffee and chocolate The smell of coffee and chocolate lure

My Top 4 NaNo Resolutions

Hi everyone, We are midway through NaNoWriMo. My word count is currently at 14k. In their recent email they asked about our resolutions for the rest of the month. My resolution is to let go of the worry of not reaching 50K. 2) to write consistently everyday (mornings work best for me). 3) to continue writing everyday towards my novel after this month is over and to continue to write after 50k, until the story is at the end. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Monday Blessings - Everything

Hello Poetteers, Here are some blessings I took notice of throughout the past week. Cat cuddles - I think cats can sense when you are upset. Sleep - take in every hour and every chance. One day you can't and will wish you took that nap. Mothers - they are your constant. They are there for everything, they to do everything until they can't but are still there to listen. Something no one else can be. You feel it all when you read/say the word mother. Friends - support you and are generous with their help and love. Crafting - just like writing, it's therapeutic. Strength - you are stronger than you think. You don't know it until you expect the need for it. Prayer - fully trust in God and everything will be okay. NaNoWriMo - my story is going in unexpected ways but it's good and I'm loving it. I'm currently at 7k. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Hello Poetteers, NaNoWriMo I'm 2k into the writing challenge. Reading I've read Signs Point to Yes by Sandy Hall. I gave it 4 stars. It is cute and better than her first book. I also read Sounds Like Me by Sara Bareilles. It's cool to see the stories behind some of your favorite songs. I'm currently reading Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Loving I'm inspired to use my planner again. I'm also inspired to use my journal in new ways. I'm enjoying decorating them. I am also doing the #listersgotttalist  challenge. I can't help but mention the books I've read, own and those I wrote that aren't published along with those published. It would be awesome if you could vote for Her Treasures in the poetry category of the Goodreads Choice Awards . Listening To One of the lyrics, "will you still love me the same?" is stuck in my head. It's the song Locked Away by R. City ft. Adam Levine . Thinking About Family and frien

OctPoWriMo Day 27 - Happy Ending

Hello Poetteers, Today's prompt is what is your happy ending? Before creating the poem write for ten minutes asking yourself that question. As I was writing it got a lot more personal than I would like to share. Enjoy the parts I let you see. As the sun breaks the horizon and rises I want to be with those I love, doing what I love. I want to be able to support and love them like they support and love me. I want be healthy want to be strong in my faith. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

Monday Blessings - At the Peak

Hello Poetteers, There were many blessings to look back on. I'm blessed to be getting good news. I love that I got to hear and see birds fly by. I got new boots for the season! Usually I pay attention to the Autumn leaves when it's too early or too late. I think this year I finally get to enjoy them at their peak. The colors are pretty and vibrant. My eyes are more open this season. Last but not least, this week will be a month since  Her Treasures  has been published. Stay inspired, Fida

Hello Poetteers, You can find the origins of the idea here . I just finished reading the sequel of SLA, ICE LIKE FIRE. I gave it 5 stars. I've read other people don't like it as much as the first. I loved it the same. In ILF, the action starts a little later than in SLA. As for what I'm watching, stationary videos of planner to journal decorating. I don't really have any songs stuck in my head this week. OctPoWriMo *Prompt: write a love letter between two inanimate objects. Dear Book, There is a fondness I have for you. You don't have to stay in one place. You're story has multiple pages. You get a tenderness from your readers. They ruffle your pages. They laugh and cry with you. You aren't ignored and you don't catch the eyes of those uninterested. Love, Picture Frame *** Dear Picture Frame, I'll keep your letter tucked in between my pages. I may be able to tell a story with all my pages but you, my friend, can tell a story in a few words and in th

OctPoWriMo Day 19

Hello Poetteers, Dear You Dear N, cut your hair. Dear A, continue to write. Dear D, be open and do more with your own work like you tell me to do with mine. Dear F, continue to play the guitar Dear H, I don't want to seem I only pour my bad days to you. Dear S, I wish we were closer. Dear C, I'm sorry it didn't work out. Dear Y, continue to spread positivity. Dear M, I wish we could meet again. Dear everyone, I wish I was with you and open to you, with how I feel about myself and about you. *I love this form of poetry aka write a one sentence letter to a specific person. You can pick a specific group of people like ex-friends or family. I chose to pick people randomly. You can find the prompt here . **For the sense of privacy, I used only their first initial. Love, Fida Check out my book, Her Treasures .

A Step Toward Falling

Hello Poetteers, Book Review A Step Toward Falling by Cammie McGovern - 5 stars. The story is about not judging people from their appearance and of redemption. It has several point of views. One is of someone who is disabled and the other is of those looking in as an outsider. It's about how both kinds of people deal with with other people having different disabilities. There is romance in the story but it doesn't take away from the story. OctPoWriMo Build bridges of relationships and of friendships of communication with those you want to be with instead of wondering how it would be. Burn the bridges that don't take you anywhere Make connections that move you. Don't make yesterday, today and tomorrow of worry and thoughts of what ifs of regret make it something good something to remember. Thank you, Fida

Monday Blessings - Feelin' Bittersweet

Hello Poetteers, Family - you realize it's not complete with one person missing after they have been with you. Fall - the weather may drain you but there is a sweetness that comes with the season. Night - everything falls quiet. There is silence and you heart final feels at peace. It means you can be yourself when you pray. It also means you can finally sleep. Noise - it's quiet for so long when it comes back you know it means happiness. OctPoWriMo Airports bittersweet with hellos and goodbyes can't come or leave without tears don't dare to say the opposite even if you feel strong going strong hope it's only a few tears instead of an overwhelming feeling just pray and have faith everything will be alright. Side note: I probably would have done the whole alphabet but then I came to the letter K and didn't know what to put. Thank you, Fida

Book Review and Poem

Hello Poetteers, Snow like Ashes review I gave this book 5 stars. I can't wait to read Ice Like Fire! Before I get into the review I would like to caution you that it may have minor spoilers to Snow Like Ashes and Throne of Glass. First of, I like the unique touch that each season is a kingdom. Second, Snow Like Ashes reminds me of Throne of Glass. I saw a post of if you like this then try this. (I would share it if I could find it). Now I see why. While the Throne of Glass mentions work camps Snow like Ashes shows you into the work camps. I love both Mather and Theron. Theron is like Dorian in ways that they are both princes and despise their fathers. Both Celaena and Meria are sneaky and amazing with their powers while still showing us their flaws. OctPoWriMo In a spark an idea is started When it rains there is cleansing for your body The sound of the ocean calms you the sound of wind brings you to nature. Thank you, Fida

I gave it a try. Loving I'm loving the feeling I get after publishing a new book! And the feeling of doing more with my poetry. Add HER TREASURES on Goodreads . Buy a copy on Amazon . Check out my merch store . Listening to The two songs that have been stuck in my head for days are Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift and Drag Me Down by One Direction. Thinking about The autumn weather. There are sweet things like the crunch and color of leaves, the crisp air, cuddles and hot drinks that I love about it. Yet in reality the cold in the air is draining me. OctPoWriMo I've been meaning to participate this year but I've only written in response to a couple prompts. What matters most is if I was brave brave enough to face my fears enough to know my fears is not something to hide behind bu

Prose Poetry: Reader-Poet

Hello Poetteers, A Poet in a Reader  You see her sit there with a book in her hand. She smiles and you see her shoulders shake with laughter. Minutes later you see her teary-eyed. She tries to hide herself from other people behind the book. You see she takes a part of her headscarf to catch and wipe away the tears. Every once in and while she pulls out a journal from her bag and jots down a few some things. If you look in her journal you will find words, snippets of phrases and sentences from songs and books she read that sparked inspiration in her.  Later she will run with that inspiration.  But that later may never come.  Perhaps she will forget. She may remember it inspired her but not how and why. You would look into her journal of snippets and never find poems that should and one day would follow.  She doesn’t know where to begin. She just lets go of thinking and writes. Later when she reads what she has written, she finds on the page, words from her own he

Prose Poetry: Flowers

Hello Poetteers, The flowers sit there  in a garden behind the house , blowing in the breeze  and  full of color.  I see the softness of their petals and I run my fingertips gently on top of them. It begins to rain. I see the raindrops speckle the petals. The flowers  let the sunlight hit their petals and leaves. They don’t try to hide from the sun and rain. The surroundings do not matter. They bloom in hardship and after hardship.  I would find a lone flower growing in between the cracks of a sidewalk.  The flowers share their fragrance with everyone and anyone who appreciates their beauty. They share their fruit with those who come early to enjoy it. Other people don't notice the flowers. They  find the fruit on the ground rotten.  Sometimes flowers send their seeds to  travel . The seeds travel with the wind  to spread their beauty or to get a better spot in the world. Love, Fida

I'm grateful for the conversation I had during dinner with my family. We talked about privilege. I'm grateful to live a safe and comfortable life. Book Review: How to Say I Love You

Hello Poetteers, How to Say I Love You Out Loud by Karole Cozzo My rating: 5 of 5 stars The blurb makes the story seem like another shallow love story. In the beginning it does seem like a shallow love story. Later into the story you start getting hints of a deeper plot. My favorite stories are the ones that highlights disability. It is great seeing her trying to understand her brother and herself. The message towards the one is something everyone needs to hear. View all my reviews Thank you, Fida
