My Poetry Style

Hello Poetteers, Reading poetry helped me feel less alone in my hurt. I write poetry to process my emotions and experiences. From it, I gain some clear perspective on lessons and solutions. I am able to let go and move forward. I've noticed a pattern in some of my poetry. I add the definition, observations made, and emotions it brings. Maybe the piece is fully positive. If not, it'll start with the negativity and end it with positivity. My pieces are more literal and introspective. But I am starting to love experimenting with more figurative language and coming up with rhymes and metaphors. With my poetry, I hope to spread mental health and cultural awareness. To shine a light on faith and self love. I want to help bring diverse representation into the poetry world.  What is your poetic voice and style?  Stay inspired, Fida More : poetry books | editing service

NaNoWriMo Recap 2016

Hello Poetteers, During the month of November, I attempted at NaNoWriMo. I took a different approach. Instead of writing a fiction novel I decided on a non-fiction project. This project will be a nonfiction story of my journey as a writer. It is something that has been bugging me to be heard and I'm finally listening. It's what I've been leaning towards. Since I thought of it in the beginning of the year I keep getting new ideas for it. I got the final push I needed from #NaNoLounge . Sneak Peek #1 From the beginning, I was already having an endless amount of spelling errors. I was a bit excited about finally working on this story idea. Another thing I kept doing as I write was ending it with referring to read more in a later chapter. For the first week and beginning of NaNo I wrote for 10 consecutive days. After that, I felt the slump and unintentionally stalled the project. I didn't think about it, I almost forgot about it. I picked it back up on the 22nd ...

evolution of my own writing

Hello Poetteers, You may know this if you've read my much older work. My poems used to be dark and centered around frustration. I was vague and each piece didn't show much growth. My poems now are varied with darkness and hope. It's shows love and growth. I didn't push myself and now I really have to push myself/let go to be vulnerable in my poetry. It feels good to see depth and see its personable. I'm proud of my work. In a few days I will be reaching my third author anniversary!! stay inspired, Fida All my books are available on Amazon .

Less Social Media, More Writing

Hello readers, I made myself a somewhat strict schedule to not going on social media that much. For once in a long while I started my day without going on social media but by writing. It felt very good! After doing my morning routine is when I went on social media, which is two hours after I wake up. It feels great to feel the breezy weather! Instead of tweeting it feels good to actually be journaling again (: I did yoga and really did feel calm and into the movements like the past few other ones this month. I'm a bit ahead of the schedule and it feels good to be at more I want to do this than I have to do this. Read some blogposts for about fifteen mins, now I'm off to social media for fifteen mins, but stayed for ten mins extra. But during social media I shared my pitch to be critiqued and critiqued others. So ten mins late and I'm getting myself to write in my WIP. After lunch I spent time on social media. And attempting to do some edits. Then some more writ...

Currently Writing

Hello readers,  I'm Fida Islaih. I love writing poetry. It's an art and my form of expression. I write for Muslim American Girls magazine and a column for Modest Beautiful Muslima. Currently, I'm working on a novel and three poetry chapbooks. The novel is about a Muslim girl who is about to enter her first year of high school and decides to wear the hijab. She faces many stares and teases that she can't stand people until she meets a girl who is interested in Islam. The poetry chapbooks are poems about faith, nature, and frustrations. Both stories are from my experiences and I hope people will understand who I am. I like to see what I write through the years so insha'Allah I hope to continue this blog through my adulthood.
