Rediscovering Poets: Liza Garza

Hello Poetteers,

Years ago I shared a video of a performance that moved me. It was a spoken word piece by Liza Garza. By mere coincidence my friend shared one of Garza's recent pieces a couple weeks ago. I was touched, again. Liza Garza is a poet, vocalist and songwriter.

My Everything - The first piece I heard from her. I cried while listening. This is what I love about spoken word. You can show the emotion you have of the words you say.

Dragonfly - I read the written piece before listening to the spoken piece. It talks about what I believe in.

My Writer's Voice Entry

My Query: DECIDING HIJAB is a 15,100 worded multicultural, girly YA. 15 year old Yasmeen recently started wearing the headscarf. Along with covering up comes problems. She faces an atheist teacher giving mis-information and getting unwanted attention from a boy. Some good comes out of this, Yasmeen meets a faithful Christian girl named Jenna and she has a load of questions for her interest in their religion, Islam. What's up Wednesday

Hello readers, What I'm Reading : I got and read two e-Arcs. 1. Behind the Stars by Leigh T Moore. I gave it 5 stars. The synopsis was left vague which left the story to be unexpected. 2. The Attic of Sand and Secrets by Medeia Sharif. I gave it 4 stars. I love the mystery. I love the diversity. Also, I finally... for the first time, got to read THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas!! I gave it 5 stars. You will find more in depth reviews on goodreads . What I'm Writing : I'm in that two week slump for NaNoWriMo. This weekend I was at 17k. It's been three days and I'm at 18k. Hopefully better days are coming. Lists are very helpfully. I recently learned one way to revise your novel is to write one line about each page you have. What's up Wed: Blog Tour Day 3

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments. What I'm Writing : I'm keeping on with NaNoWriMo at 28k! In between I'm switching back and forth between two stories: Reading Deciding Hijab after a long break. I forgot about her short conversation about a school dance club. I didn't even put in a scene of her joining after the conversation. More revisions to come. The other story is one I have a sneak peak on Wattpad . What Else : It's day three of belated Hugs & Kisses blog tour. Earlier this month Medeia reviewed my book .
