Currently Writing

Hello readers,

I'm Fida Islaih. I love writing poetry. It's an art and my form of expression.

I write for Muslim American Girls magazine and a column for Modest Beautiful Muslima. Currently, I'm working on a novel and three poetry chapbooks. The novel is about a Muslim girl who is about to enter her first year of high school and decides to wear the hijab. She faces many stares and teases that she can't stand people until she meets a girl who is interested in Islam. The poetry chapbooks are poems about faith, nature, and frustrations.

Both stories are from my experiences and I hope people will understand who I am. I like to see what I write through the years so insha'Allah I hope to continue this blog through my adulthood.

I'm glad to see you're working on a novel too! Keep up the great work; this is a great opportunity for you to be one of the few Muslim authors out there in the market writing inspirational stories.

It's great to see you're working on poetry too. I was never the one who could write many poems unless given a topic to write about.

My Writer's Voice Entry

Hello readers, Through the luck of the Rafflecopter draw, I got picked to enter the Writer’s Voice, a multi-blog, multi-agent contest hosted by Cupid of Cupid’s Literary Connection , Krista Van Dolzer of Mother. My Query: DECIDING HIJAB is a 15,100 worded multicultural, girly YA. 15 year old Yasmeen recently started wearing the headscarf. Along with covering up comes problems. She faces an atheist teacher giving mis-information and getting unwanted attention from a boy. Some good comes out of this, Yasmeen meets a faithful Christian girl named Jenna and she has a load of questions for her interest in their religion, Islam. What's up Wednesday

Hello readers, What I'm Reading : I got and read two e-Arcs. 1. Behind the Stars by Leigh T Moore. I gave it 5 stars. The synopsis was left vague which left the story to be unexpected. 2. The Attic of Sand and Secrets by Medeia Sharif. I gave it 4 stars. I love the mystery. I love the diversity. Also, I finally... for the first time, got to read THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas!! I gave it 5 stars. You will find more in depth reviews on goodreads . What I'm Writing : I'm in that two week slump for NaNoWriMo. This weekend I was at 17k. It's been three days and I'm at 18k. Hopefully better days are coming. Lists are very helpfully. I recently learned one way to revise your novel is to write one line about each page you have. What's up Wed: Blog Tour Day 3

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments. What I'm Writing : I'm keeping on with NaNoWriMo at 28k! In between I'm switching back and forth between two stories: Reading Deciding Hijab after a long break. I forgot about her short conversation about a school dance club. I didn't even put in a scene of her joining after the conversation. More revisions to come. The other story is one I have a sneak peak on Wattpad . What Else : It's day three of belated Hugs & Kisses blog tour. Earlier this month Medeia reviewed my book .
