Monthly Recap - April

Hello Poetteers,

It's time for my monthly recap! I look back at my goals I set in the beginning of the year and see how well I progressed.

Reading

I read two novels, one poetry book and a non-fiction book. The poetry book is Lullabies by Lang Leav and you can find my review here. The Sister Pact by Stacie Ramey is a beautifully written story about tragedy and the life that follows after it. I love how art played a role in the story. The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin is by far my favorite book of the year, maybe of life. My non fiction book was Girl Code by by Cara Alwill Leyba. It is an inspiring read. I'm currently reading When We Collided by Emery Lord.

Writing

Before April came around I outlined a novel to write during Camp Nano. On the first day I looked at my outline and didn't like it. There were a couple scene that excited me and I worked on them. I reoutlined my story and it was decent but it still didn't spark anything in me. I made the decision to pants the project. Yet after that first week I forgot and abandoned the project. Three days before the month ended I remembered the project and opened it up. I read what I wrote last and started writing. I was able to write a lot and more as the days continued. I'm not worried about 'winning' camp nano. I already did with my excitement and not giving up.

Personal

I started bullet journaling. You can find my thoughts here.

Goals for Next Month

  • flesh out camp nano project to be several short stories
  • read five books
  • keep up with an exercise routine

stay inspired,
Fida

Hello readers, What I'm Reading : I got and read two e-Arcs. 1. Behind the Stars by Leigh T Moore. I gave it 5 stars. The synopsis was left vague which left the story to be unexpected. 2. The Attic of Sand and Secrets by Medeia Sharif. I gave it 4 stars. I love the mystery. I love the diversity. Also, I finally... for the first time, got to read THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas!! I gave it 5 stars. You will find more in depth reviews on goodreads . What I'm Writing : I'm in that two week slump for NaNoWriMo. This weekend I was at 17k. It's been three days and I'm at 18k. Hopefully better days are coming. Lists are very helpfully. I recently learned one way to revise your novel is to write one line about each page you have. It's timely but you get to see what you character or plot point is missing. What Else : Got an award from Jessica at Lunatic Poet , thank you! I have to give seven facts and pass it on to some of my favorite bloggers. - I've been blogging f

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments. What I'm Writing : I'm keeping on with NaNoWriMo at 28k! In between I'm switching back and forth between two stories: Reading Deciding Hijab after a long break. I forgot about her short conversation about a school dance club. I didn't even put in a scene of her joining after the conversation. More revisions to come. The other story is one I have a sneak peak on Wattpad . What Else : It's day three of belated Hugs & Kisses blog tour. Earlier this month Medeia reviewed my book . If you have read it or is planning to read it I would love to see your review on goodreads ! Poetry Prompt : Write about the feeling reading gives you. a Rafflecopter giveaway Love, Fida # Poetteers
