Top Ten Tues #3: Difficult Reads

Hello!

I published this before seeing other posts but after I did I'm updating this post. I'm splitting this into two parts.

BOOKS I DIDN'T START OR FINISH

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson - Its hard for me to read about eat disorders and such. But recently I read other books with similar topics, so hopefully one day I will try again.

Beloved by Toni Morrison - it's a classic and I hope to try again.

Persuasion by Jane Austen - again, a classic and I hope to try again.

Stolen by Lucy Christopher - I DNFed it but with everyone giving praise I want to try again. I think I just got bored of the dessert scenes.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini - I have it. Lots of people said it's really good but also really sad so I've been avoiding it.

BOOKS I READ

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer - it just wasn't my kind of read.

Of Mice and Men - an okay and sad read.

Brave New World - my first dystopian read and I didn't like it.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman - my second dystopian read and I enjoyed it.

Psst... I don't have a number 10. But I see lots of people put historical fiction. I could have, too, but it's my number one favorite genre.

Thank you,

Fida

Is this a list of over the past year, or random?

I've read Stolen, Beloved and The Kite Runner- and urge you to finish them! Defo worth your time!

This is random, there is no time stamp but thank you for letting me know!

I found stolen quite tedious as well! All the description I just thought was unnessecary
I definitely agree with Unwind! And Of Mice and Men, so depressing! I hadn't even heard of Stolen, but it is now on my TBR after reading the praise. Great list!

Stolen is one of my favourite reads this year. The subject matter is difficult, but the characters are so interesting!

One day I hope to get through one of Jane Austen's novels. I've read half of two of them (but never two halves of the same one)!

The Tortured Poets Analysis

Personal Interpretation of The Tortured Poets  Dear readers, I enjoy reading a song and analyzing the lyrics. I love being able to detect the story she's telling while also interpreting it. I develop my own personal connection. Here's a breakdown why some of the lyrics have become my favorite. no one here to blame, what about your quiet treason. the betrayal brought her depression and she’s attempting to move on but the forced energy isn’t healing. It's about struggling with a traumatic situation alone because no one noticed the changes in you. The narrator is envious of those living peaceful lives and frustrated that friends found better people to be with. I've seen this episode and still loved the show, I've read this one where you come undone, I chose this cyclone with you. Depending on the perspective you choose it's about the guilt and regret for getting in your own way or willing to stay with someone through their mental illness. The voices in his head cal...
