A to Z Poetry Anniversary

Hello Poetteers,

Three years ago today I got to call myself a published author. Three years ago I published my first poetry book, A to Z Poetry. The journey was and still is full of discovery. It was the push I gave myself. It was the push that started it all. I'm so grateful for this.

The connections I made with people opened doors for me. Those people shared their knowledge with me.

For the first time there was a free online conference for independent authors. It covered everything from design to distribution. I got to teach myself what would have taken years in a matter of months.

It was a lot of trial and error. It is all about networking and what you can bring. There is more to come. I'm excited and can't wait to share it with all of you!

Short Story: Little Red Hijab

Back in 2014 I wrote a short story with a little twist on little red riding hood. Enjoy! Once upon a time lived a little girl named Ruqayyah. She lived in a small town with her parents. She didn't like being in big cities because it was busy and dirty. Grimy people were lurking in the shadows. She had the charm to make them good. There was something about her green eyes. Her mother loved the color red and thought it would go well with Ruqayyah's green eyes. Mom bought red fabric and stitched her a headscarf. Ruqayyah loved it. She wore it every day. One day her mother said to her: 'Come, Little Red, here are some homemade cookies, fruit, and dates; take them to your grandmother, she is ill and weak, and they will help her.
