What's Up Wednesday: New Year!

Hello Poetteers!

I surprised myself these few days of the new year. I made a goodreads goal to read 60 books this year. I lowered it from last year's 90 books, which I didn't reach. I hope lowering it makes it more attainable.

I've already read two books!

Inside Out & Back Again - which I loved. It's a MG novel in verse about a refugee. I'm used to reading YA, so this was a light read even though there are some emotionally touching scenes. I gave it 5 stars.

The Luxe by Anne Godberson - I enjoyed reading it but it was predictable. I enjoyed the time period and writing style. I gave it 4/5 stars.

Sadly though, I haven't done much writing. I'm trying to write a short story a week. It's not going very well and I need the inspiration/motivation. Hopefully that will change.

Love, Fida

I'm sure you'll reach your goals of 60 books this year. I'll have to check out the MG book you mentioned. I'm reading as many as I can to get some inspiration for a MG manuscript I want to write this year.

I hear you. Writing in 2015 has been tricky. Reading has too, considering my family is SUPER demanding, but I love them. I hope you reach your goal and that your muse starts yacking.

I lowered my goal this year too. I want to read a lot and a variety of books but I don't want it to be a race. I want to enjoy it and absorb all the words. I read Inside Out and Back Again last year and I enjoyed it too. Now I'm reading Brown Girl Dreaming which is another novel that is written in verse.

Hello readers, What I'm Reading : I got and read two e-Arcs. 1. Behind the Stars by Leigh T Moore. I gave it 5 stars. The synopsis was left vague which left the story to be unexpected. 2. The Attic of Sand and Secrets by Medeia Sharif. I gave it 4 stars. I love the mystery. I love the diversity. Also, I finally... for the first time, got to read THRONE OF GLASS by Sarah J Maas!! I gave it 5 stars. You will find more in depth reviews on goodreads . What I'm Writing : I'm in that two week slump for NaNoWriMo. This weekend I was at 17k. It's been three days and I'm at 18k. Hopefully better days are coming. Lists are very helpfully. I recently learned one way to revise your novel is to write one line about each page you have. It's timely but you get to see what you character or plot point is missing. What Else : Got an award from Jessica at Lunatic Poet , thank you! I have to give seven facts and pass it on to some of my favorite bloggers. - I've been blogging f

Hello readers, What I'm Reading CROWN OF MIDNIGHT! The first book was already great but this second book kicked it up a notch with the OMG! moments. What I'm Writing : I'm keeping on with NaNoWriMo at 28k! In between I'm switching back and forth between two stories: Reading Deciding Hijab after a long break. I forgot about her short conversation about a school dance club. I didn't even put in a scene of her joining after the conversation. More revisions to come. The other story is one I have a sneak peak on Wattpad . What Else : It's day three of belated Hugs & Kisses blog tour. Earlier this month Medeia reviewed my book . If you have read it or is planning to read it I would love to see your review on goodreads ! Poetry Prompt : Write about the feeling reading gives you. a Rafflecopter giveaway Love, Fida # Poetteers
