Fasting with a Disability

Hello readers, We know fasting long hours is hard. We know fasting in the heat is hard. Have you ever thought of fasting with a disability?  God says those with long-term illnesses don't have to fast. Yet I want to try and push myself. I want the experience and good deeds.  We are a little over being halfway done with Ramadan and here's my reflection: Some days I can fast all day without getting hungry and some days I'm starving or aching in the last few hours. It depends on how much I drink and what I eat in the morning before I fast. I drink two large bottles of water. I have soup and dinner rolls, without those I'm hungry.  Even on those starving hours, I push myself saying I have only this much time left or that I need to finish my to do list or I should try to nap and help my mom. Other times I do break my fast or don't fast one day (or more).  There is also the extra prayers. I try to stand throughout most or all of it and sometimes

Jul TCWT Blog Chain

Hello readers, This month's prompt is:  “Take any character from one of your books and put them in a therapy session. Write a (short!) scene about what happens. (You can include multiple characters and make it a group therapy session.)” I'm taking my MC, Fayha, from WOULD YOU BELIEVE.  Therapist: What has been going on? Fayha: My long time friend is leaving her faith and another friend is bullying me. T: How is this friend bullying you? F: She tells me I shouldn't wear certain things or can't believe I believe such things or would do such things.  T: How does that make you feel? F: sad, mad, useless.  I hope you enjoyed that and you are interested in reading the story. I might do this two those two friends of hers to help my story. Thank you, TCWT for the inspiring prompt.  Btw, I've been interviewed on Saba's blog and Tina's blog about my writing journey and poetry campaign. Check it out! Participatiants :  July 5

Mon Blessings #16: Begin of Jul

Hello readers, I'm blessed that Ramadan starts tomorrow!!! And I just came back from a Muslim youth camp!! I'm on a faith boost! Reflecting on yourself and having confidence were the two big things taken away from camp. Of course, the fast-paced made sisterhood!  I've written so many poems, but you're going to have to wait a bit because they are under consideration for the camp's upcoming issue.  My goals are to lessen my time on the Internet. I made a goal to go on only on the weekends. I want to read/understand the Quran and better my prayers. I want to do little things like exercise and watch the sunrise and help my mom.  Love, Fida
