Book Review: Jars of Clay

Hello readers, I love that it takes place in Tunisia. And that one scene where they were harvesting olives made me feel the familiarity to my home that I have never been too, Palestine. I also love that it has multiple POVs of two people falling in love with each other. The girl is of higher status than the boy and already has an arranged marriage ahead of her. Yet I love their love interest and am sad the book ends with a sad cliffhanger. There is a second volume and I can't wait to continue reading! -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

Thoughts of 'Maybe Loving You'

Hello readers, I read this post and everything spoke to me. But this pull at me, "Gives you something to talk about. I’ve met quite a few writers that have been writing their novel for over 5yrs or even more. They sometimes admit that they may never finish but love to just write. They often share their challenges with their writing and their triumphs and from one author to another I totally understand that writing is like putting together a puzzle. Some people like to finish it, others like to widdle at it. But in both cases, it is pleasurable and freeing." It reminded me of one of my writing projects. I'm working on a novel-in-verse that is a love story based on my own. I didn't have an ending. Each time I had a thought of him or saw him I wrote about it. But I wanted to go to the next step, so I slapped on an ending and edited it. I queried agents knowing I'd get rejected. But I didn't want to think too much of everything. But I still kept deleting m

2 Book Reviews: Love & Memory

Hello readers, Today I got to spend my morning at the bookstore and I bought this book: 'My Name is Memory' by Ann Brashares. I wish there was a sequel to this book I just finished. It's my first adult book I read. It was complex and draining, but I loved it. The young man lived man lives and remembers it. The young woman lived many lives, too, but doesn't remember it. Finally, they get to meet. Yet the young man had an evil brother in another life and had married her. He reaches her before him. And well, you should read it to figure out what happens and the journey to it. Also today at the bookstore I'm in the middle of reading 'The House I Loved' by Tatiana de Rosnay. It's a book in a POV of an old lady with a heart of a young lover. She is a stubborn person not wanting to leave her home while the high authority destroys neighborhoods to remodel into the new era. She tells her story in a long letter to her deceased husband. Part of the ending w

Write. Be. Encouraged.

Salaam (peace) readers! What gives you encouragement to keep writing? What encourages me to write is my mother when she read a story I forgot to close and tells me she loves it and wants and can't wait until I publish it and when she even says it about writings I don't intentionally write for future publications What encourages me inspires me like waking up in the middle of the night cuz I can't sleep and I don't know why like watching a show, reading a book, or listening to a song where a line pulls my heartstrings to write like seeing the harmony of nature or simply everyday activities. What encourages me is the love I have and want to show. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

TCWT Blog Chain: A Book That Changed My Life

Hello readers, This month's prompt is to write about a book. What is one particular book that changed your life? Why did you originally choose to read it? What impact has it had on you? The book that changed my life, not many people know about, it is 'Mornings in Jenin' by Susan Abulhawa. The book talks about life in the village to living in a refugee camp. It goes through 4 generations. Most of the book follows one girl and her life of learning and moving out of camp to continue her learning. I love this book and it changed my life. I got this when I was slowly started to think of the Palestinian cause. I remember the day I was on the computer looking at the Barnes & Noble website and looking for books on Palestine or something similar. My parents surprised me with the book, apparently, I left the page open or they looked at the Internet history. I know they know I really love reading. Either the secretly knew my love for Palestine or just wanted me to star
