2011 Resolutions

Hello readers, Today is New Year's Eve's Eve! Since New Year is just right around the corner, you know what that means. Time to write a list of resolutions. Here are a few of mine... Write more! Story ideas are floating around in my head. Need to get them grounded on paper, hehe. Don't lose my poetic mind. Keep writing those poems that suddenly have become a big hit on this blog. Because as I look back over the year of 2010 my poetry has improved; insha'allah it'll keep improving for the best. And of course post SOME of them. I do want to get published; that brings me to my next one... Write, edit, revise. Look around to see if there are some literary agents that might fit you. Then of course query, pray, and wait. Those are some of my resolutions, the others are more personal and for side of me you don't know. See you all in 2011!

Monday's Melody: Hijab

Hello readers, Tear Stained Hijab I cry... for my faith needing to stay united, for people who think down of Muslims. I cry and hope one day they'll understand and respect. For I smile knowing... I have sisters by me, covered to protect and be free; I smile one day people around me will finally know my reason. (written Dec. 7, 2010)

Excerpt of Reflection

Hello readers, I won't be part of I-reached-my-goal celebration, I finished NaNoWriMo at 6,800 words. Take a look at this excerpt. I go to the mall some time a week before school starts getting school clothes when I see someone familiar. It looks like it is Yasmine and her group of friends. The only sad thing, though, is when I see them I immediately think of my group of friends. I miss them more as each day passes. I decide to go re-introduce myself. “Hi, I’m Sufia,” I say. “Sufia? I remember you from my trip to Malaysia a few summers back. How are you?” “I’m doing fine, how about you?” I say. “The same, what brings you to Michigan?" She asks... This is an excerpt of a Reflection. As you know my writing is my own original piece. Please do not reproduce without permission. Thank you,  Fida
