Do you struggle with the direction of your narrative?
Does your poems sound too confusing?

As a freelance poetry editor I work with poets who want to self publish their poetry book. I love working on manuscripts related to cultural identity, mental health, grief and self love. With my editing I help writers show their vulnerabilities through stories. By the end of the editing session your poetry book will be stronger with emotion and tight with grammar. I'll gift you with a personalized editing checklist. It will help you know what to ask yourself to improve your writing. You’ll take what you’ve learned and apply it to future poems and books.

Manuscript Appraisal $50

I provide feedback on the theme & order of the poems. I look at the structure of the pieces and make sure everything flows. I give guidance on what poems I feel need to be strengthened and encouragement on what stands out.

Poetry Editing $280

I edit for grammar and spelling. I look at where the line breaks and punctuation should be placed. I see if there are any holes in the story, if any pieces are too similar or stick out from the others, I dig into the words and stanzas on the page, looking at word choice and poetic devices. I will point out phrases that don’t make sense or could be improved. I suggest reworded phrases and synonyms. If the poems don’t have a strong impact I’ll suggest rearranging lines and stanzas. I also ask specific questions for the poem to show emotion and tell the whole story. I ask you what details are you leaving out? I tell you what feels unnecessary. I tightened up the emotions and stories, keeping in mind your voice.

Hello Poetteers,  I'm sharing more poetry books I discovered and am excited to read! March Coming Home to Her By Emily Juniper It is a celebration of being human. It is a coming out journey, an exploration of sexuality, femininity, loving, and being loved. How to Bloom By Tatyana White Jenkins A collection of poems about the enthralling, complex, grueling, and beautiful journey of growth. April The Gravity Inside Us By Chloe Frayne  An ode to whatever it is we carry that pulls us in and out of place, and speaks so insistently of fate. The Medicine That Burns by Molly S Hillery It is a raw declaration on what a life of trauma can look like after the dust settles and the poems have happy endings. It is an unflinching narrative on how hurt is cyclical, how recovery must be redefined repeatedly, and how shame can poison us in the worst ways. I See How You've Kept Me by Aisha Adams A debut poetry book that takes you through a journey of brokenness to reach complete healing. May The

Publishers That Publish Poetry Books

Hello Poetteers, As I was doing my own research for poetry publishers this question popped up on my feed: Does anyone know any publishers that publish poetry books? Later on, while hosting #PoetteerChat I asked what everyone’s plan is for a year from now. Most of you said to be published. I promised a list of publishers, so here’s the top 7 I found. Along with the publisher, I will mention the poets they represent. I want to work with someone I can trust. Seeing familiar names makes them more trustable in my opinion. Andrew McMeel - has published Amanda Lovelace, Lang Leav, Rupi Kaur and more.  Dancing Girl Press - has published our very own Amanda N. Butler.  Bottlecap Press - has published Courtney LeBlanc  Button Poetry - has published Olivia Gatwood, Sierra DeMulder and more.  Two Sylvias Press - has published Jeannine Hall Gailey, Kelli Russell Agodon, Martha Silano and more.  Write Bloody - has published Sarah Kay, Andrea Gibson and more.
