A to Z and A Book Review

X, Y, Z... Hello Poetteers,

Why should I care? I don't always have to complete something if I don't feel into it. Instead I'll share a review of a book I promoted a few days ago:

Snip, Snip RevengeSnip, Snip Revenge by Medeia Sharif

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tabby is lucky to go to art school. I'm already loving her. I can relate with her on the big curly hair. I can also relate on once getting a boyish haircut. Even though she isn't close with her stepmom I'm glad they found something to bond over. And same with her dad. They may not have a great relationship but she can still go talk to him. I love that she stood up for what she wanted and got it. For anyone who wants diversity in stories, they need to check this one out!

W is for rant?

Hello Poetteers,

sad I missed
this weekend's faith lecture
happy it gave my friends' a faith high
happy it touched them
bringing tears in a good way
I hope they pass it on to me
I really need it

The only reason I missed it
because of business
you gotta finish your story
if you want to finish it
and with that I got a date with mommy

I hope I get to see my friends soon.

I want to feel Weightless
with the overwhelming
feeling of not worrying about forgetting my faith
that I can talk to my mom about everything
that I can love.

I wonder it all
wandering around my maze like mind.

tomorrow is the last day
happy and sad

Wrinkles aren't bad
a sign of age
of wisdom
of laugh lines
embrace them.

Love and thank you, Fida

Belated Birthday: SNIP, SNIP REVENGE

Hello Poetteers,

Having been following Medeia's writing journey for a little while I thought I should help her out to reveal her new book. Its book birthday was yesterday, so happy belated book birthday!

SNIP, SNIP REVENGE by Medeia Sharif

YA Contemporary, Evernight Teen

Release Date April 25, 2014

Beautiful, confident Tabby Karim has plans for the winter: nab a role in her school’s dramatic production, make the new boy Michael hers, and keep bigoted Heather—with her relentless Ay-rab comments—at bay. When a teacher’s lie and her father’s hastiness rob her of her beautiful hair, her dreams are dashed. The fastest barber in Miami Beach has made her look practically bald.

With all her pretty hair gone, Tabby doesn’t believe she fits the feminine role she’s auditioning for. Michael is still interested in her, but he’s playing it cool. Heather has taken to bullying her online, which is easier to do with Tabby’s ugly haircut. Tabby spearheads Operation Revenge, which proves satisfying until all of her problems deepen. After messing up, she sets to make things right.

Poem: V is for...

Hello Poetteers,

You can read this as two different poems or as one whole poem.

V is for vacant

what comments

giveaways and emails

feel like at the moment

Vacant is my heart

of feelings

moving routinely

and being miserable

no happiness

no love

I want to vacant

some things, some places

so my heart won't feel

so vacant.

U is for Universe

Hello Poetteers,

Back to basics
to the simple Universe
without all the divisions and fights.

Back to basics
no social media takeover
a simple letter writing
to your loved one
next door or across the Universe
or in University.

The Universe is an optimistic place
we shouldn't be pessimistic
people or make it a pessimistic place
We should give love
like the Universe loves us

Spring is the season
from the Universe
that reminds us
to get back to basics.

Love and thank you, Fida

P.S. I may take my own advice and reduce my social media use. You can stay connected with me on my newsletter. AND I'm about to give my Poetteers (the ones that subscribe) a sweet deal or two. Sign up by the 28th of this month to find out what it is!

Along with that, I have a giveaway going on:

Tree-houses and Teachers

I was sitting in my Tree house with my personal Trainer. She was on the phone with her daughter. She was speaking a different language. I was about to leave when I heard something,

"أنت في المتجر؟ انا بحاجة الى التفاح والشوكولا."

She said something about apples and chocolate. I understood that. I never knew that. She didn't even say anything in English or made any movements indicating what she said. I didn't even grow up in an Arabic speaking home. Maybe my friends have some influence. I guess I should learn it. Maybe instead of just a personal Trainer I should hire a Tutor.

Poems Q, R & S

Hello Poetteers,

I'm catching up to all the letters and I hope you are catching up on my other posts. Here are today's poems:

Q is for quiet
let you catch up to speed

Q is for quiet
let's read a book
find recommendations
find ways to get them

Q is for quiet
I'm being subtle
in my self promotion
not anymore.

R is for rest
like the previous poem.

S is for sleep
what follows
after quietness
rest and relaxing.

I'm sure he pictures
being back there
as I picture
going there.

N is for New Read

Hello Poetteers,

I thought I would give you a break from the poems. I won a twitter giveaway yesterday and got the book DIVIDE by Jessa Russo. Yesterday was also it's release day! Within four hours I started and finished reading it. I thought I should share my review with you.

DivideDivide by Jessa Russo

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this fairytale of a beauty and beast twist. In the beginning I was fine with it but after awhile I grew tired of the sex scenes. Other than that I love seeing all the foreshadowing. I love see all the puzzle pieces and how it came together. The pacing was good. I love how she knew something was in her, that she realized it on time. But the other things came slow but good enough. Along with them you think one thing and it's another thing. The end still came unexpected. It was cool that not just her, but he didn't remember the past.

It reminds me a bit of MY NAME IS MEMORY by Ann Brashares. I hope many readers find this story and love it as much as I did.

A to Z: M is for Muslim

Hello Poetteers,

we do normal things
why can't we be seen as normal
we aren't always trying to prove a point
if there is one point you want
look at the Muslims
I follow on twitter

we aren't always mad
we'll rant before or after
a massive laughter fit
with our sisters

I'll be me
have a massive dance party
and move to Mars
or the moon
whichever we prefer

God above all
will help me with everything.

Love and thank you, Fida

A to Z: C is for Count

Hello Poetteers,

C is for...
Count your blessings
your cats are some of them
your chocolate
and your car, too
count the little things too
some may have a message.

I got a message from above
in the form of a dream
I may see him again
but I need to take my chance
I may just be seeing him
for closure
for a goodbye
or I may be seeing him
to make amends
and start over.

Love and thank you, Fida

A to Z: B is for Balance

Hello Poetteers,

B is for being kind
not minding the buzzing bees
they help pollinate the flowers
the flowers that
even when crushed
give off a beautiful fragrance.

Be is for being kind
maybe that's all he's doing
it may be just in my head
that he's flirting.

B is for balance
you have it or not
learning about it
you try to balance school
and home
you faith and love life

Balance is not
just a beam
you use in science class.

Love and thank you, Fida

A to Z: A is for Average

Hello Poetteers,

Today is the first day of many challenges. It's camp nano, poem a day, blogging from A to Z. Here's a sneak peak at a couple poems from my WIP, enjoy!

don't let that get you down
Awesome, amazing
it makes me appreciative of you
we have to accept differences.

Anything Starts and Ends
It's the beginning of
something new
a new school semester
a new schedule
new feeling

It's the beginning of
getting out of my slump
enjoying my poetry
writing and sharing

It's the beginning of
something new
getting my first crush

It's the end of thinking
I can be too good
it's the end of my slump
end of one chapter
and the start of another.

Love and thank you, Fida
