A to Z: Z is for Zzz's

Hello readers! It's the last day of the challenge. It's bittersweet. But for Z all I can think about is Zzz's. Since it's the last day I have three poems and most of them are inspired/about sleep. Enjoy! (I hope they don't make you fall asleep, lol)! Sleep or Work All I want to do is sleep but the sun is shining bright and at my face calling me to get on with my day It may hard to get up but you have to you have one more thing to do and then it's done You'll get to do what you want whenever you want but for now you show one last time the skills you got. Sleep For a while now you worked your mind so hard without a break You finally get one and don't do any thinking just falling into your bed and falling asleep. The End You've reached the end and know what to do beyond the end it's outlined But after throwing yourself out there you're surprised and they are surprised you're tired and others are, too you've reached the end Give each othe

A to Z: Y is for Yoga

Hello readers, it's the second to last day of this challenge! Here's a few poems that may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and may or may not start with the letter Y: RELAX Yoga Exercise your mind and your body push yourself, yet relax Yoga lets you exercise both but in ways to let you calm down and relax. Yo-yo People say life is like a roller coaster and it is, but it also can be compared to other things like a yo-yo. We Need Shade we need once we get heated water we need food we need it is life we are living while we get heated. *this last poem was my attempt at a shadorma. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

A to Z: X is for Xercise

Hello readers! Here are a couple poems that may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and may or may not start with the letter X: Mechanical Today everything is mechanical where it is technology or us working and walking blindly. World Xercise In the world we live today you need to push yourself push yourself to exercise your body And also in today's world you need to push yourself push yourself to exercise your mind In the world we live in we do mindless things, but we're not here to do that we're here to make a world a better place and we have to start by making ourselves better. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

A to Z: V & W Poems

I apologize for not posting yesterday. Here is two poems, one for the letter V and another for W: Vast A vast mind can be good or bad you might have something or you might not Even if you do you don't know what to let out and what to hide whether to let stay or go. With your vastness you may be disliked or loved Just put yourself out there. *of course I doubt putting my poems out there, but you all seem to like bits and pieces of different kinds. Also, I did have three different lines for the end. I hope you enjoyed it! Wake up Wake up and smell the coffee smell the roses smell and see everything as it is If it's good, show it if it's bad, hide it and/or change it it's what your life is for. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

U is for Unity

Hello readers! Here are a couple poems that may or may not start with the letter U: Umbrella All through yesterday it's been sunny and cloudy that evening it rained and as night came, it poured it poured through the night and still is on this midweek morning. If I were out besides seeing my own and hearing of others I'll see a rainbow of umbrellas. Unity I love communities cuz it's mostly about unity working together to host a dinner or multiple working together to create a better environment for themselves and their kids working and praying together you can feel the love just by being there. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

T is for Tea

Hello readers, Today is a simple day. Here is one poem that may or may not start with the letter T: Tea or Coffee We are from a culture that loves both Every household needs it they may ask for one or the other but at the end, you'll get both Ever girl needs to know how to make both it's a test to who will love you or love you more a test to who is lucky to have you unless that girl is lucky finding a guy that can do it. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

S is for Salaam

Before I introduce my poems I want to let my new readers (and old ones if you forgot) Salaam means peace. A greeting Muslims exchange. Islam means peace and submission. Here are some poems that may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and faith, and may or may not start with the letter S: Kiss and Salaam As a child I go to sleep with a kiss from my parents As a teen I go to sleep with salaams from my parents At both times without that kiss or salaam I can't sleep, I wait to get it It's like having to say I love you before leaving a person cuz you don't know what's going to happen next. Complex Complex is something you make of something when it doesn't need to be don't think too much, just do it Don't do it to making yourself blind with it but do it with a deep love. Islam Islam on my mind School out of sight but shouldn't be Islam should be consuming, in a way that it helps you that is what Islam is about. -Fi

A to Z: R is for Red

Red A color that can go both ways it can be soft or hard of love or anger Red is the blood that flows in our body keeping us alive Red is the blood that drips when we are hurt. Red is a just a color. Rest It's been a week since camp started and ended I'm catching up to my resting I had left exhausted and the next day I slept half the day but from that day on my midday rests have been shorter I know I'm getting my rest and a reward for going This wasn't just another event to hangout with people and then forget them it's an even to make a friend that will last for the rest of time If only I could see them again at another camp but the next is rigorous and unless there was a miracle I'll fast at home during Ramadan and rest at home all summer. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

A to Z: Q is for Queen

Here are a few poems that may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and may or may not start with the letter Q: Quiet Today is quiet I can't think of a thing to write my quill is empty and so is my mind after writing all those other poems of friends and camp But I'm not going to quit there'll be a comeback. Burn At first you may think you got burned but in reality it's a lesson to be learned. Queen They call me the iPad queen just because I was the first to use it at school and was smart in figuring out how to use it and more But I don't like being called an iPad queen it may be a little part of me but I don't feel it's me I shouldn't be attached to material things and shouldn't be loved for material things I should be loved for my personality and I do see that happening Things are changing and so is this but no matter what I'm among many queens of the faith I follow. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyr

Hello, Here are some poems may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and start with the letter, O: Opinion Everyone has to express themselves it doesn't matter how and such; we each have our own opinions and sometimes, that's how we find our friends. Option We all have options on things we want and don't want to do to make those things easier on us I had the option to go but cuz of my condition we took out that option but later knowing some goings are good we took it back in and I went glad I did. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

A to Z: L and M Poems

Hello readers, I apologize from not posting on Saturday and Sunday. I was at another camp, it's a Muslim youth camp. Following are poems that may or may not start with L and M and are inspired by camp: Love Love is something that infests in your body and it grows so large after bonding with sisters in faith and learning about your faith Love is a pinkie promise a long hug or back rub love is an acquaintance asking you to sit with them Love is any and everything. --- Money Money is not just cash or coins to pay for material things Money is something else that pays for your afterlife Money is the love you give to any and everything money is the small, good deeds you do for yourself and others to God. --- MYNA It was my first time and I like any other event I'm asked about my siblings But soon I'm my own person doing my own thing everyone is so caring on how you feel whether you know them or not it's what starts a close and long lasting bond. -Fida Islaih {all writing is c

A to Z: K is for Kindness

Originally posted here , here it is again; K is for Kindness: If you could just show a smile, be kind go up to a stranger and do something special; You could touch a soul and be remembered. You may be a stranger but as sisters in humanity, in faith we know how to be together to do things unbelievably touching. (written Apr. 7, 11) --- Broken may something be yet all you have to do is fix it or at least try to show you love. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

Here are some poems may or may not be inspired by poetic asides and start with the letter, J: Jasmine Jasmine is a kind of flower it grows in Palestine yet it smells okay this adds more meaning to why I love the name In Arabic it's Yasmeen a favorite of mine since I could remember it was a name my parents were thinking of giving me, but didn't. *I could use it as a pen name, but by MC already holds that name. In Case of A Journey Life is a journey pack light and don't collect anything expect good deeds to bring home Life is a journey and you can love or hate the ones in your life you may fall into mistakes But fix yourself up cuz life's a journey. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}

A to Z: I is for Ignore

I is for ignore. My mind is ignoring me about writing an 'I' poem. So I'm going lazy and wrote a poem based of my last name. I have another poem, that may or may not be inspired by poetic asides : Islaih It's my family name it holds so much history it tells me of my father and grandfather and more further down It tells me where my family is from from Palestine it tells of its blessings and struggles in my family. Ignore Suffering You can't ignore suffering your friends may be suffering they have family that are suffering you are suffering your family is suffering It may be little, it may be big but you can't ignore suffering or anything going on you have to help. Inspiration One sticks out to me right now she's open and honest works hard and shows her gratitude Doing this she doesn't let negativity enter her life she doesn't have friends who don't love her she doesn't have to worry about what she says sh

Here is a poem inspired by poetic asides: Hunt for Decisions At any age you'll have things to go after and things coming to you you have to choose to do what is right for you or right for others (maybe wrong for you). But right now I just want to go back to Malaysia. 2. If you were a superhero what would your superpower be? I kind of have the superpower of a psychic. 3. What was your first car? N/A. A to Z: C is for Can't... And IWSG

Inspired by poetic asides and napowrimo , here is a couple poems that may or may not start with C: Cannot Lie A prompt told me to write a poem that tells a lie, but I cannot lie for the poems I write come from the depths of my heart telling who I am I cannot lie for its forbidden to purposely sin especially to hurt others and why lie to someone who wants the truth maybe you shouldn't be friends. Uncertian I'm tentative not certain, not fixed or confident  about everything But it's alright to be that way we have family, friends, even strangers to support us Above all is God it's alright to be uncertain  for He will show us along the path.  And IWSG Ever since I announced I'd self publish a poetry collection by the end of the year, I've been scared. I have the poems, the cover, I know I have to edit and format. I learned a lot and know what I have to do, but seriously? The business side. Making all these accounts and handling them

A to Z: A is for Arrival

A is for April, a month to bring things anew. It's also the first day of the A to Z challenge and a poem a day challenge. Inspired by poetic asides, here is a couple poems that may or may not start with A: New Arrival We went to the restaurant I spent every year of my life at yet this time it was like a new arrival they took out the antique touch and made it modern We went to the bakery/cafe where we hang out nightly we always get ice cream but I got in touch with my Arab side and got kanafa The sunsets and the sunrises are new arrivals knowing the roads, yet it being different is a new arrival Meeting an old friend yet all these changes meeting new friends seeming like regular friends it's a new arrival, a new comfort. -Fida Islaih {all writing is copyrighted}
